Wednesday night kicked off the 3D Hoops Summer League which featured some of the Lexington Area’s top young talent. The league featured four 4 on 4 match ups from 6-7 as well as two 5 on 5 games from 7-9. Featured below is a recap of all you need to know about last night’s summer league action!
4 on 4 game of the night: Tipping at 6:30 last night’s Blue/Orange match up was an instant classic with the orange team eventually prevailing 18-17 thanks to some late game heroics from point guard Cal Stevenson. The game featured multiple lead changes with neither team leading by more then 3 with 4 lead changes. Caleb Dailey, Austin Griner, and Jaden Kordes turned in strong performances for the Blue team but it was not enough to combat Jaden Gainey’s double figure rebounding performance.
7:00- Grey vs Blue: Dylan Little’s 26 point explosion and the Grey teams late surge were not enough to overcome Coach McPhail’s Blue squads 2-3 zone, which gave the Grey team fits all night. Davis King lit the blue team up for 24 while also being the focal point of Coach McPhail’s juggernaut defense. Myles Dailey’s sharpshooting contributed 7 while also helping open up driving lanes for Jonah Burris who finished just shy of double figures with 9.
8:00- Orange vs White: Mitchell McGee’s strong fourth quarter (9 points, 2 assists) helped Coach Bouknight’s run and gun Orange squad pull away from the White team in the last 4 minutes of the game. The Orange teams balanced scoring effort saw Josh Burriss contribute 16 while Jackson Brady had 9 with all of his points coming from deep. Donnie Chiarel paced the white team finishing with an impressive 19 points while Jon Corley contributed 12 points.
